Merino Wool and Tussah Silk Fiber Blend for Spinning and Felting

This merino wool and tussah silk fiber blend combines soft fine merino with lustrous silk to create a smooth, luxurious spinning fiber. The tonal colorways feature subtle shifts of color throughout the fiber, producing beautiful depth in handspun yarns.

This fiber is available in different tonal colorways, each offered as an individual 8-ounce portion. This fiber is part of the Constellation Range, a collection of tonal blends inspired by celestial palettes.

Fiber Performance and Spinning Qualities

Prepared as combed wool top, the fibers draft evenly and spin smoothly on both drop spindles and spinning wheels. The merino provides elasticity and loft, while the tussah silk contributes strength, sheen, and elegant drape to finished yarns.

With a staple length of approximately 3–4 inches and a micron range of about 20–23 microns, this fiber offers a balanced spinning experience suitable for both newer and experienced spinners. The silk content creates subtle highlights in the yarn and adds structure that works well for laceweight yarns, lightweight garments, and refined accessories.

The fiber may also be used in wet felting and needle felting projects where soft texture and luminous color transitions are desired.
