Pippa and Pelle and the Birthday Gifts by Daniela Drescher

A Board Book Celebrating Nature, Friendship, and the Joy of Giving

Pippa and Pelle and the Birthday Gifts invites young children into a bright, joyful birthday celebration rooted in the rhythms of the natural world. It’s Pippa’s special day, and everywhere she looks, nature joins in—flowers bloom, birds sing, butterflies dance, and friends gather to share in the happiness. Pelle even bakes a birthday cake to enjoy together.

Illustrated by Daniela Drescher, this sturdy board book glows with her unmistakable artistic style: vivid flowers, expressive animals, and a small world alive with warmth and color. The simple, reassuring text pairs naturally with the illustrations, making space for shared reading, pointing, and lingering over favorite pages.

A First Birthday Story Rooted in Nature

Rather than focusing on wrapped presents, this story celebrates the gifts that surround us—friendship, beauty, and the simple joy of being together. For babies and toddlers, the experience is visual and sensory; for slightly older children, it becomes a first introduction to birthdays as moments of connection and generosity.

Part of the beloved Pippa and Pelle series, this book is especially well suited for birthday gifting, seasonal rotation, and everyday reading throughout the year.
